OFFICE OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS, PARTNERSHIP AND PROSPECTS (IRPP)
Establishment
On 6th April, 2009, the University Management under the leadership of the former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tolu Odugbemi, in its bid to promote collaboration and linkages with foreign institutions and agencies commissioned the Office of International Relations, Partnerships and Prospects.
Set-up
The Office which is a unit under the Vice-Chancellor’s office,has Professor Akin Oyebode,a Professor of International Law and Jurisprudence as the Chairman. Other members of the Committee in charge of the affairs of the office are Professors P. G. C. Odeigah and A. N. Ninalowo. Mr. J. O. Layonu is the Administrative Secretary of the office.
Aims and Objectives
The office which is the University of Lagos’s window to the world is responsible for:
- Serving as a central coordinating office for Unilag’s various international initiatives, projects, undertakings and encouraging collaboration among faculty members and among the various schools and colleges.
- Maintaining a central database containing information on all international undertakings of the University, including mission, personnel, budget, activities and programmes
- Developing opportunities for the University’s students to engage in international service, undertake international internships, and study abroad, through student exchange programmes
- Facilitating and supporting faculty and staff participation in international projects, programmes, research and scholarly pursuits, as well as faculty/staff exchange programmes.
- Assisting faculty and staff in the sourcing of grant support for international endeavours.
- Establishing and maintaining information resources, including an active and dynamic website that will inform faculty, staff and students of international resources and opportunities.
